Palazzo Brancaccio

Palazzo Brancaccio is a splendid building constructed on Colle Oppio and overlooking Via Merulana; it is the last noble palace built in Rome. Built between 1886 and the early 1900s at the behest of Mary Elizabeth Bradhurst Field, a wealthy lady of New York high society, the Palace was designed by architects Gaetano Koch and Luca Carimini for her daughter (also named Elizabeth) and her husband, Prince Salvatore Brancaccio. Today it houses an artistic and cultural heritage of great refinement: tapestries, porcelain and precious crystals; paintings and frescoes by great artists of the late 19th century; imposing crystal chandeliers: all original and which highlight the splendor of an era characterized by a baroque classicism.
